Home Made Bird Feeder
Every day if you look through the window you can see lots of birds flying around the yard. They are looking for some kinds of food. One day, my daughter had homework to make a bird feeder. She was so excited to make one and help the birds to find food.
Materials you will need:
empty juice or milk carton, washed and dried
paint
paint brush
markers
white masking tape
nail or screwdriver
string or ribbon
scissors or craft knife (will need adult help for safety)
popsicle stick
plant stick
glue
bird seeds
Directions:
Step 1. Clean out the juice or milk carton and let it dry.
Step 2. Use the white masking tape to cover the juice carton. The outer part of the carton is glossy and water resistant so it will be better to paint on the masking tape.
Step 3. Draw the shape that you want to cut out. After, with help of an adult, use a craft knife or scissors to cut through the carton following the outline you made. I cut out squares on the 4 sides.
Step 5. Cut the popsicle sticks in half and glue them on the top to make the roof. You can also paint them or use already colored popsicle sticks.
Step 6. Prepare your paint colors. Place the carton on a protected surface and paint however you want. Let it dry. Also, you can decorate it with stickers.
Step 7. Make the holes on the bottom of each side of the carton with a nail or screwdriver for the plant stick. Put it in the center so the birds can sit on sides. Make sure you measure the distance from the hole to the bottom and to the side of the carton so you can make similar hole on the other end of the feeder.
Step 8. Make a hole in the top to put the ribbon and hang the house in a good place.
Step 9. Fill it with bird seeds.
