Fizzing Foaming Car Wash
A colorful, fizzy, foamy car wash will get those dirty cars clean in no time!
To make Fizzy Foaming Car Wash, You Need:
1/4 teaspoon food coloring or liquid watercolors
1 cup baking soda
1 can aerosol shaving cream
Small containers for the “soaps”
Toy cars
Large container
Squeeze condiment bottles
Vinegar
Directions:
Make colored baking soda, which will serve as powdered “soap” for the car wash, by adding 1/4 teaspoon diluted food coloring or liquid watercolors to 1 cup baking soda in a small container. Set aside to dry.
Make colored shaving cream by spraying enough shaving cream into a bowl to fill it and adding food coloring or liquid watercolors until you get the desired shade of color, usually 2-4 drops of food coloring or 1-2 squirts of liquid watercolors. This is your “puffy soap.”
Add your toy cars and puffy soap to a large container. Have your children line up the cars as they wish. They may also wish to “wash” the inside of the container with the puffy soap.
Once they have distributed the puffy soap, offer the powdered soap for the next stage of the car wash.
Finally, present them with the “rinse” to wish off their cars-squeeze condiment bottles filled with vinegar. If the smell of vinegar bothers you or your child, add 1-2 drops of extract. You can alternately substitute 2 tablespoons citric acid power mixed with water for vinegar.
