Canada Day Cookie
Canada Day is right around the corner and a great way to celebrate it is by making Canada Day themed sugar cookies! As well which child doesn’t like a tasty treat such as cookies and help bake them!
Ingredients
1 cup butter
1.5 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3.5 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
Directions
In an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla and beat until combined.
Add flour, salt and baking powder and beat until smooth.
Place dough in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Roll out dough and use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes. (maple leaf, beaver, coin, etc)
Place on cookie sheets and bake in at 350 degrees in the oven for 10 minutes.
Decorating the Cookies
Using store bought fondant, roll out and cut it with the same cookie cutters that were used for the cookies. To help the fondant stick, make an edible paste with water and icing sugar then brush it on the top of the cookie before placing the fondant.
